We call on the Government to reform the care system. We are concerned that high social worker turnover, unstable placements and failures to follow policies can cause further trauma. Care must nurture, not simply sustain survival.
Every child deserves stability, opportunity and a childhood.
Some vulnerable children face neglect, instability, repeated placements, high social worker turnover and serious mental health challenges. Tragically, some care leavers lose their lives after leaving a system that was meant to protect them. We believe the Government is failing in its role as a corporate parent. Care must nurture, protect and support, not simply keep children alive. Children in care deserve stability, opportunity, dignity and a genuine childhood.
