Change the child maintenance calculation rules so payments are based on regular net income and do not include overtime, bonuses or other irregular additional earnings.
We want child maintenance to be calculated using the paying parent's regular net income only. Overtime, bonuses and other irregular additional earnings should be excluded from the calculation. Additional earnings are often voluntary and unpredictable and should not be treated as regular income when determining a fixed child maintenance payment. We believe this would create a fairer and more predictable system while ensuring children continue to receive reliable financial support.
