Open petition: Financially redress 3.8m taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support
Created by Mrs Jennifer Griffiths
Closes on
We want the Government to establish a fair financial redress scheme for the 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support, reflecting the support received by comparable taxpayers and businesses.
Around 3.8 million UK taxpayers were excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support, including newly self-employed people, company directors, freelancers and new starters. Many lost income, businesses, homes and financial security, while comparable taxpayers received substantial government support. Years later, the consequences continue. We believe fairness requires proportionate financial redress for those excluded.
