Open petition: People over the age of 65 must retake their driving test every 5 years

Created by Charlie Fleming
Closes on

I think at the age of 65 you should have a retake of your driving test and continue doing so every 5 years. I don’t feel a renewal of a driving license and providing medical records are quite enough.

I believe older people need to have the examiner in the car to assess how they drive and then make the decision as to whether they are still fit to drive. I have had experience of an accident caused by an older driver and I believe regular tests for older drivers may be an important step towards greater safety on the roads.
