Open petition: Increase long-term funding for mental health services
Created by Chloe Smith
Closes on
We call on the Government to make mental health a national priority by increasing long-term funding for mental health services, including expanding crisis & community support, improving access to assessment and treatment, and increasing investment in early intervention and mental health education.
Mental health services are under huge pressure, while people wait for help, assessment and treatment. In England, the mental health service population grew by around 45.8% from 2016 to 2023–24. In 2024, 6,190 suicides were registered in England and Wales. Wales received 7,538 mental health referrals from April to June 2026. Behind these figures are real people and families.
