Open petition: Reduce fuel duty for HGV owner drivers & small hauliers
Created by Tommy Perry
Closes on
We call on the Government to reduce fuel duty for HGV owner drivers and small operators across the UK to help deliver fair fuel support.
Owner drivers keep Britain moving — delivering food, supplies and essentials every day. Fuel makes up 40–50% of owner-drivers’ costs. While big fleets can get discounts, owner-drivers cannot — and pay more per litre and earn less per mile than big fleet owners. We believe the 5p duty cut is not enough. Many drivers often work below minimum wage just to stay on the road. If owner-drives have to stop working, supply chains will suffer and prices rise for everyone.
