Open petition: Require all end parking spaces to be for disabled parking

Created by Susan Silk
Closes on

Require every end space in all car parks, including supermarkets, retail parks and council car parks, to be reserved for disabled parking where safe and practical. This provides vital side access for wheelchair users and carers to open doors and transfer people safely.

Disabled parking is about more than being close to a building. Many wheelchair users need extra space beside their vehicle to open doors, position a wheelchair and safely transfer with help from a carer. Ordinary bays are often too narrow. End spaces provide natural side access. We want every suitable end space in car parks to be a disabled bay, making everyday life more accessible and reducing barriers for wheelchair users and carers. Access Is a Necessity, Not a Luxury.
