Open petition: Ban schools from confiscating students' phones overnight

Created by Nicole Bemrose
Closes on

We ask the Government to introduce national safeguarding rules preventing schools from confiscating a child's phone overnight. This could protect children travelling to and from school, including ensuring they can contact a parent or responsible adult if they face an emergency.

We ask the Government to introduce national safeguarding rules requiring schools to protect children travelling to and from school. If a child is allowed to travel home independently, they should have a safe way to contact a parent or responsible adult, especially when their phone has been confiscated or retained. Children’s safety outside school must be treated as part of safeguarding.
