Open petition: Introduce a temporary 10p fuel duty cut when petrol prices exceed £1.65 a litre
Created by Gareth plunket
Closes on
Introduce a temporary 10p-per-litre reduction in fuel duty whenever the average UK petrol price exceeds £1.65 per litre, with the full duty rate restored once prices fall below this level for a sustained period.
We want the Government to introduce temporary fuel-duty relief when fuel prices are exceptionally high.
When the average UK petrol price exceeds £1.65 per litre, fuel duty should be reduced by 10p per litre. The reduction should remain until average prices stay below £1.65 per litre for four consecutive weeks.
This would give motorists targeted support without permanently reducing fuel-duty revenue.
