Open petition: Fund the creation of specialist autistic and PDA schools
Created by Georgina Lawford
Closes on
We want the Government to fund the creation of new flexible specialist schools for autistic children, particularly those with a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile, who cannot access mainstream or traditional special schools.
We believe children who experience severe anxiety, sensory difficulties and demand avoidance need education that adapts to them, including:
1. Small, sensory-friendly settings
2. Autism and PDA-trained staff
3. Flexible attendance and reduced demands
4. Greater choice and individualised learning
Children should not have to reach crisis point or lose years of education before receiving appropriate support. Every child deserves an education that works for them and enables them to reach their potential.
