Open petition: Mandate CMPA training & fund specialised referral pathways in primary care
Created by Harvey Thompson
Closes on
Mandate standardised CMPA (Cow's Milk Protein Allergy) for all primary care staff and fund guaranteed, fast-tracked paediatric dietetic referral pathways. We want to end diagnostic delays, trial-and-error formula restrictions, and poor early intervention for infants with Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy.
Many families face months of delay, misdiagnosis, and dismissive care when seeking help for infants with Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA). Non-IgE (delayed) symptoms like severe reflux, blood in stool, skin flare-ups, and extreme distress can be written off as "just colic". Many parents experience lengthy trial-and-error formula changes without specialist support. We believe primary care teams need standardised training to recognise CMPA early and specialised pathways to refer infants to dietitians without delay.
