Open petition: Review exam and assessment pressures in the KS4 and KS5 curriculums

Created by Mohammed Mansur Ejaz
Closes on

We are concerned that high exam pressure in Key Stage 4 and 5 is fuelling a severe youth mental health crisis. The Government must conduct an urgent review to look at how to reduce assessment pressure and inject vital new funding into school mental health awareness and professional support.

I am starting this petition to raise vital awareness about the unseen toll of our education system. Overwhelmed by testing, students face unprecedented anxiety. Having witnessed the impact of relentless academic stress, I believe that the current setup breaks student well-being long before exam day. High-stakes testing can trigger severe anxiety and depression. We believe we urgently need a balanced system that protects youth health, backed by dedicated government funding for early mental health intervention.
