Rejected petition: Reaffirming the creation of public money

Rejected on

To debate and affirm that the creation of sterling for public expenditure is a sovereign public power; that the Bank of England creates money for public expenditure & credits it to HM Treasury; & that this is not the creation of a new power, but the reaffirmation of an existing sovereign right

The UK doesn't & shouldn't have to borrow or tax what it has the right to create without risk of inflation. The definitive evidence below confirms that inflation does not result from public money creation, provided only that the Government confirms the availability of the productive resources (trained workers; technology; equipment; materials) required for its programmes and their consequences, in the time period they cover.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We are unclear what you are seeking here beyond a debate - and we do not allow petitions that *just* call for a debate, as a petition will anyway secure a debate if it reaches 100,000 signatures.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
