Rejected petition: Reform Welfare Eligibility to prioritise those in greatest financial need.
Rejected on
We call on the government to review the welfare system to ensure public funds are used effectively. This should include introducing income limits for PIP to prevent payouts to high earners, and tightening assessments so work benefits go only to those unable to work.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We find your petition unclear in the main thrust of what it is asking for.
This and previous Governments have stated that the welfare system is configured to prioritise those who most need the support it provides. We also do not understand how work benefits can go to those who are unable to work (who can presumably access other benefits).
You may wish to focus the text of a new petition around the call for income limits to PIP claims. This would be a clear enough request to form the basis of a petition.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
