Open petition: Tax Relief for Families Battling Serious Illness
Created by Mr Paul M Nuckley
Closes on
We want the UK Government to introduce temporary Income Tax and Council Tax relief for families affected by cancer and serious illness. Supporting family carers recognises the vital care they provide, reducing pressure on the NHS while helping families cope with rising costs of treatment and care.
The scheme would provide temporary Income Tax and Council Tax relief to patients and key carers during treatment. A family’s monthly costs do not disappear when someone becomes seriously ill; treatment, fuel, food, parking, travel, energy and care are added to existing bills. Most families have little or no savings or disposable income, so these extra costs can force them into debt. Tax relief would provide breathing space, recognise carers and reduce pressure and costs on the NHS.
