We think democratic participation requires citizens to be able to recognise manipulation tactics, not just to vote. The Government should introduce annual civic & media literacy training covering human rights, propaganda recognition, historical anti-democratic tactics & detection of misinformation.

Adults who left education years ago receive no ongoing training in democratic resilience, despite voting and facing exposure to propaganda, disinformation, and manipulation tactics online and offline. We ask the Government to introduce annual training covering rights, propaganda recognition, anti-democratic tactics (taught not partisanly), and misinformation. Sessions should run briefly and regularly, by employers or via online App, with extra sessions before elections.
