Open petition: Make Mental Health First Aid a Legal Requirement in Workplaces
Created by John Junior
Closes on
Require workplaces to include Mental Health First Aid in their first-aid provision, ensuring staff have access to someone trained to recognise signs of poor mental health, start a supportive conversation, provide initial support and signpost them to appropriate professional help.
Mental health can affect anyone, including at work. Mental Health First Aid training gives people the skills and confidence to recognise signs of poor mental health, listen without judgement, start supportive conversations and respond appropriately, including during a crisis. It also teaches people how to signpost someone towards appropriate professional support. We believe mental health should be taken as seriously as physical health in workplace first-aid provision.
