Open petition: Launch a review into investigating gender-based price differences
Created by Claire Johnson
Closes on
We want the Government to launch a review that investigates gender-based price differences (“pink tax”) and recommend measures to prevent businesses charging more for similar products marketed towards women or girls, unless the difference can be reasonably justified by genuine costs.
The “pink tax” is when products marketed towards women and girls cost more than equivalent products marketed towards men and boys. We believe consumers should not pay more because of gender-based marketing.
We want the Government to investigate these price differences, publish its findings and measures it plans to introduce to prevent unjustified higher prices for equivalent or substantially similar products. This could help protect young people and families from unfair costs and promote greater equality.
