Open Make vehicle odometer tampering ('clocking') a criminal offence in the UK

We call on the Government to update the law to:
Make altering a vehicle's odometer illegal in all circumstances (for both electrified and internal combustion engine (ICE) cars).

Under current UK law, selling a clocked car without disclosure is illegal, but the actual act of rolling back an odometer is not. Mileage correction kits can easily be bought online for a few hundred pounds, artificially inflating vehicle values and exposing buyers to hidden safety risks.

The government has acknowledged the necessity of banning clocking as part of the Pay-Per-Mile EV tax (set for 2028), but the discussion hasn’t extended to banning clocking for all vehicles, including ICE.
