Open petition: Make learning about current affairs a legal requirement for students
Created by Molly Brown & Monika Wojcik
Closes on
We would like for the Uk Government to make it a legal requirement for students aged 11-18 to have 2 hours of education a term about current political and economic affairs so that they have a better understanding of the world as of right now and how these choices will affect our future.
Politics is changing rapidly and affects our daily lives, often without us realising. We believe education should go beyond exam content and better prepare students for the real world. Many young people rely on outdated classroom material or biased social media, which can create false or harmful views. Schools should teach current political issues from different perspectives, helping students think critically and understand the world around them.
