Rejected petition: Establish UK-wide AMBER-style alerts for high-risk missing children
Rejected on
Establish a UK-wide AMBER-style alert system for abducted and high-risk missing children, using the UK Emergency Alerts network to send location-based alerts directly to compatible mobile phones, with clear national criteria and improved public reporting on missing-child cases.
The UK already has Child Rescue Alert, but it does not work like an AMBER-style emergency mobile alert. When a child is abducted or considered at high risk, people in the relevant area should receive an automatic alert on compatible phones through the UK Emergency Alerts system. We want a clear UK-wide process allowing police to issue these alerts rapidly when public assistance could help locate a child.
