Open petition: Use emergency phone alerts to help find missing children in the UK
Created by Nicole Sall
Closes on
Create a UK Amber Alert-style system allowing police to send emergency mobile alerts to people in relevant areas when a missing child is believed to be at serious risk. Alerts should include key identifying details and information that could help the public assist police.
The UK already has a location-based Emergency Alerts system. I want the Government to establish a clear national protocol allowing police to use it for high-risk, missing-child cases, similar to Amber Alerts. Where police believe a child is in immediate danger, people in the relevant area should receive an alert with approved identifying details, the last known location and clear instructions on how to report information.
