Rejected petition: Tianne Olivia's Law: Strengthen Protections for Women and Girls

Rejected on

We want the Government to strengthen protections for women and girls experiencing domestic abuse, close gaps in the current law and support. Ensure victims can access safety and specialist support after disclosure, including where coercive control, strangulation or other risks are present.

Tianne Olivia’s Law is about making sure women are not left without meaningful protection when they disclose domestic abuse, recognising the devastating and often hidden impact of coercive control. It is also about what happens when a victim is no longer here to speak for herself. A woman’s voice, experiences and evidence should not disappear with her. Her death should not end the opportunity to learn from what happened to her and prevent another woman from suffering the same fate.
