Open petition: Review housing policies & prioritise constructing affordable housing
Created by Angela Templeton
Closes on
We want the Government to prioritise the construction of affordable housing to improve housing affordability. High housing costs, including rent and mortgages, are making it hard for many people and families to secure stable, safe, affordable homes.
We also call on the Government to launch a review into affordable housing policies, which includes looking into policy options to incentivise the development of diverse housing options at prices accessible to those with moderate and low incomes, and exploring initiatives like rent control, more inclusionary zoning in new housing developments and increasing funding for building more social housing.
We believe that access to affordable housing is a fundamental human right, crucial for the wellbeing of our community and that it is time for action to ensure that everyone has a place to call home.
