Open petition: Fund & implement risk assessment systems in schools for vulnerable youth
Created by Karam Kuymulu
Closes on
We believe all schools should have mandatory risk assessments to identify children who are at risk of gang recruitment. These could be targeted at students aged 9-16.
In the past year, a survey estimated that around 90,000 young people aged 13 to 17 in England and Wales had been involved in a gang. Home Office estimates also suggest that around 15,500 children were identified as at risk of or involved in child criminal exploitation in the year ending March 2025. As a result, we believe the government should employ risk assessment systems in all schools to prevent the exploitation of young vulnerable children by gang activity.
