Open Seek to negotiate a UK-EU youth mobility deal for under-30s

We call the government to seek to negotiate a reciprocal youth mobility scheme with the EU, letting UK and EU citizens aged 18-30 study and work freely across borders without the current visa and work permit bureaucracy.

Since Brexit, it has become far harder for young people to study or work across the UK-EU border. Many who were too young to vote in 2016 are now stuck living with the consequences. Several EU member states and the European Commission have already floated youth mobility schemes. We think a reciprocal deal for under 30s could restore that lost opportunity, without reopening the question of free movement itself. In our view, this generation deserves a government that acts to address its consequences.
