Open petition: Publish rationale and need for UK asylum law guidance, and risk mitigations
Created by Lisa Tabner
Closes on
The Government has issued guidance to asylum seekers explaining UK laws and expectations, including on sexual consent, rape and sexual assault. We believe the public has a right to understand why this guidance was considered necessary and what evidence or risk assessment informed its introduction.
We are asking for the Government to be transparent about why it was necessary to issue asylum seekers with this guidance which includes rape, sexual consent and sexual assault. We call on the Government to publish the evidence and any risk assessments behind this decision and explain what screening, safeguarding and protective measures are in place to protect women, children and the wider public as a result. This is to ensure that any potential risks are properly assessed and managed and that the public is given clear info about how their safety is being protected.
