Rejected petition: Ensure continued funding for the UK Youth Parliament

Rejected on

UK Youth Parliament has been instrumental in giving young people across the country a voice since 2000. Reports suggest that DCMS may cease providing further funding to UKYP. This petition calls for the government to explore all available options to sustain the programme long into the future.

UKYP provides important youth advocacy and campaigning, develops the political literacy of huge numbers of teenagers each year through its 'Make Your Mark' ballot, and trains core skills such as public speaking, leadership and organisation. UKYP is a vital link between young people and government, and it would be a monumental loss and a mistake if it ended.
