Rejected petition: Strip the Bath of its UNESCO World Heritage Site status to build more housing

Rejected on

The City of Bath refuses to build more homes to protect its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. This should be removed for Bath to build more housing.

The City of Bath refuses to build its fair share of housing to protect its UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
This means the surrounding towns and villages have to have built a disproportionate number of houses to meet Government quotas.
Keynsham for example is 5 times smaller than Bath but will have to build the same number of homes straining already stretched local infrastructure.
Everywhere needs to build its fair share of housing. We just want Bath to do the same.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about UNESCO status are a matter for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), not the UK Government or Parliament.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
