Open petition: Allow trained HCPC podiatrists emergency access to hyaluronidase

Created by Charlotte Hughes
Closes on

Allow appropriately trained HCPC-registered podiatrists to obtain, store and administer hyaluronidase for the emergency management of suspected vascular compromise following the administration of hyaluronic acid gel for medical purposes in the lower limb.

This petition concerns medical hyaluronidase use in the lower limb by trained, insured, HCPC-registered podiatrists, not cosmetic practice. Vascular compromise is rare but serious and may require urgent hyaluronidase. As with emergency adrenaline, we believe trained podiatrists should be able to obtain, store and administer hyaluronidase for this specific emergency, under appropriate training and governance. In our view this is about timely emergency care, protecting patients and preventing avoidable harm.
