Open petition: Add Long Covid as a qualifying condition to access nirmatrelvir with ritonavir
Created by Anne McConway
Closes on
Long Covid patients are ineligible for accessing nirmatrelvir with ritonavir on the NHS when reinfected with Covid-19. There is no NHS treatment pathway to cure Long Covid. Nirmatrelvir with ritonavir can’t even be bought privately over the counter in the UK, so ineligible patients cannot access it.
We ask the Government to add Long Covid to the health conditions that make patients eligible to accessing nirmatrelvir with ritonavir on the NHS, as Long Covid patients are currently ineligible for the antiviral medication on the NHS when reinfected with Covid-19.
Reinfection can worsen symptoms or trigger relapse. We ask the UK Government to add Long Covid to the qualifying health conditions to access nirmatrelvir with ritonavir on the NHS, so patients already living with the long-term effects of Covid-19 are protected from reinfection.
