Open petition: Commission review of NICE guidelines on optimal TSH target & thyroid shared care
Created by Dawn Kenyon
Closes on
Review NICE Guideline NG145. For symptomatic patients, mandate targeting lower optimal thyroid levels. NHS England to standardize lab ranges, allow GP-led Free T3/Antibody tests, stop generic brand-switching, mandate standardized patient education & create a specialist digital shared care pathway.
We believe UK thyroid care relies on an out-dated "one-size-fits-all" model that leaves patients facing many secondary health issues. Varied UK lab limits can cause symptoms to be dismissed, while pharmacy brand-switching can cause filler side effects. We feel that this crisis strains the NHS with costly secondary care referrals for unmanaged complications, while driving major workplace absenteeism. We want standardised education and testing, a wider range of treatments, and shared expert care where symptoms persist.
