Open petition: Priority Queues for Parents with Young Children
Created by Ionela Buravic
Closes on
We ask the UK Government to introduce legislation or national guidance requiring shops and supermarkets to provide priority checkout access for parents and carers who are accompanied by babies or young children.
Waiting in a long checkout queue can be extremely difficult for parents caring for babies and young children. Babies may cry, need feeding or changing, while toddlers and young children can become distressed, restless or unable to remain safely and calmly in a queue for a prolonged period.
Parents should not have to abandon their shopping, struggle with a distressed child, or face embarrassment and confrontation simply because they are unable to wait in a long queue.
