Rejected petition: Reject the proposed BBC Internet Fee on broadband bills

Rejected on

Reject any proposal to replace the TV Licence Fee with an Internet Fee that would add charges to broadband bills.

Protect UK households from this unfair financial burden, particularly those who do not watch BBC television or use its services.

The BBC plans to scrap the TV Licence Fee and introduce an Internet Fee, adding £11 to every broadband bill.

This is plainly unfair to UK residents and would deepen financial pressure on households already struggling with everyday costs.

As a nation we should not accept this change. People who never watch television whether they game, work remotely or use broadband purely for business should not be forced to fund the BBC.

The proposal is unjust and should be rejected.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There are currently no official proposals to scrap the TV licence fee or to create an internet levy. We are therefore unclear what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
