Rejected petition: Allow Crossing Guards to Wear Body-Worn Cameras to Protect Children and Staff
Rejected on
I want the Government to allow school crossing guards to wear body-worn cameras to protect children and those who stand in the road every day to keep them safe. Cameras could deter reckless drivers, capture evidence and help hold dangerous motorists accountable.
Every school day, crossing guards step into traffic and put themselves between dangerous vehicles and our children. They deserve protection too. Drivers who ignore their instructions can put innocent lives at risk, yet guards may have no way to prove exactly what happened. Body-worn cameras could deter dangerous driving, protect crossing guards and provide vital evidence. Please sign this petition and help us give those who protect our children the protection they deserve.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
There does not appear to be any law which prevents school crossing guards from wearing body-worn cameras.
Additionally, school crossing guard schemes are not overseen by the UK Government but by local authorities
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
