Rejected petition: Abusive parents to automatically be stripped of parental rights
Rejected on
The law should automatically strip parents who have been convicted of abuse of their parental rights and control over that child. Children should not be forced to see their abusive parents and have to allow them to still make decisions regarding the their life. This is abuse in itself!
Many children are failed by the system and can be left with lifelong trauma and PTSD.
Why should a child be forced to see and interact with the same people who abused them? This in itself is a form of abuse, and will lead to even further trauma as the child will relive and keep remembering what they did.
The law and system needs to change to allow foster parents this responsibility so they can act in the child's BEST interests and to protect them from further abuse.
