Open petition: Ban Members of Parliament from holding shares in energy and supermarket firms
Created by Stacey-Anne Hill
Closes on
Ban MPs from holding any financial interests or shares in major fuel suppliers and supermarkets. We believe this creates a direct conflict of interest, especially during a cost-of-living crisis. All holdings must be fully banned.
We believe allowing lawmakers to hold stakes in firms profiting from high prices is a conflict of interest. While working people struggle, many firms make massive profits. We are concerned that when politicians profit from these margins, the public cannot trust them to regulate these industries. Public service must be separate from corporate gain. We demand a total ban on MPs holding any financial interests in essential food and energy supply chains. All holdings must be divested.
