Rejected petition: Introduce a 'Youth Ballot' for 11–17 year olds on education and youth policy.

Rejected on

Under-18s pay tax but get zero say in laws affecting their futures. To prevent parental influence, schools should host secure, independent voting booths. Young people deserve a direct vote on tuition fees, school standards, digital safety and their futures.

Decisions made today about university costs, schooling, and online safety will impact the 11–17 generation for decades, yet they have zero representation. In Scotland and Wales, 16- and 17-year-olds already vote in local elections, showing under-18s engage responsibly with democracy. A targeted Youth Ballot would not interfere with wider national budgets, but would grant young people a vital, democratic say on the specific laws that govern their day-to-day lives.
