Open petition: Make Tree Preservation Orders mandatory to protect all trees across the UK
Created by Simon Jones
Closes on
To benefit the environment, health and wildlife make TPO (Tree preservation orders) compulsory across the whole of the UK. When on occasion a tree might need to be removed, then permission should be sought from the Council. This should apply to all trees in all areas. On private and public land.
As trees are so vital for human health, the environment and wildlife it is crucial that they are protected.
Apart from the many other benefits from trees they are also known to give off phytoncides ( chemical compounds) that when released can boost the human immune system.
While there are Government and other funded tree planting schemes going on, there needs to be more to protect trees from unnecessarily removal.
