Open petition: Real-time victim alerts and an urgent police response to tag breaches
Created by Hollie Rowson
Closes on
Real-time alerts to victims when electronically monitored domestic-abuse perpetrators breach agreed exclusion zones, giving victims time to reach safety. Alerts also to trigger a prompt police response. Provide advance release notice and design safety plans with survivors and specialist services.
Victims should receive an immediate alert when an electronically monitored domestic-abuse perpetrator enters an agreed safety zone. Police should be notified at once and respond according to risk.
The warning could give victims time to call for help, secure their home or get themselves and their children to safety. This would reduce the worry on survivors and risk if the police can’t get there in time. Lived experience and specialist services should help design and test the system.
