Open petition: Keep the 5p fuel duty cut for another year and reduce amount for small firms
Created by Catriona Robson-Scarborough
Closes on
Keep the 5p fuel cut after December 2026 and do not put fuel duty up. The Government should also cut fuel duty now for small firms that rely on vans and lorries.
We are concerned that small firms with vans and lorries are struggling. We believe when fuel goes up, only two people pay: the business owner or the customer. Either we earn less, or you pay more to move home, get a delivery or shop locally. Lorries got a road tax break in May. Vans got nothing. Fuel duty is 52.95p a litre, with VAT on top, in all four nations. The 5p cut ends in December and rises could start in January. Many small firms are close to closing. We need help now.
