Rejected petition: Petition for Local Democracy, Accountability and Community Control
Rejected on
We, the undersigned residents and taxpayers of most of the towns in England, are calling for a fundamental change in how decisions are made about our town, our future, and how our money is spent.
Many residents feel decisions are being made by people too far removed from the realities faced by our community. We demand greater transparency, accountability and genuine public consultation on major spending and town developments. We support exploring a community-led model that gives residents direct control over key decisions and local budgets. Modern democratic approaches can give local people a stronger voice in shaping their town and deciding how public money is spent.
