Open petition: Review how rape and sexual offence information is recorded
Created by Teresa Moon
Closes on
A review should examine how rape and sexual offences are recorded across police, prosecution and courts, and seek to establish consistent reporting of cases, charges, prosecutions, convictions and other outcomes.
The public needs a clear and transparent picture of rape and sexual offending. Different official sources can measure different things, including police-recorded offences and estimated victimisation. We want the Government to identify gaps and inconsistencies and explain clearly what happens to cases from reporting through investigation, prosecution and final outcome.
