Open petition: Review tattoo licensing and regulation
Created by Nik Carville
Closes on
Identify measures to:
Stop inexperienced tattoo artist gaining licensing
Prevent unlicensed home studios
Ensure proper disposal of clinical waste (tattoo ID cards).
Require:
Using an artist licence number to order stock
Regular council checks
Separate licences ie semi permanent, body & medical.
We call for stronger regulation of the tattoo industry to protect clients and legitimate artists.
Licensing should require proven training and experience, with robust council checks to prevent unlicensed home studios. Clinical waste must be properly disposed of and tattoo ID cards enforced.
Artist licence numbers should be required to purchase professional stock, with separate licences for tattooing, semi-permanent makeup, body piercing and medical tattooing.
