Open petition: Introduce food allergy cards for those with allergies

Created by Paul McAllister
Closes on

This petition calls on the government to introduce a food allergy card. The food allergy card could be issued to anyone with a food allergy, detailing their allergy and severity. Cardholders could present their allergy card to any food establishment before placing an order.

I want a standard allergy card introduced so people with diagnosed allergies can clearly communicate the allergen and severity to food businesses. I am concerned that too many people claim an allergy simply to change a dish.

This creates confusion for staff, adds pressure on kitchens and risks warnings being treated less seriously. A card could help ensure customers with genuine, potentially life-threatening allergies receive the care they need.
