Open petition: Make the Battle of Cable Street a mandatory topic during KS3

Created by Alejandro Olivero Santana
Closes on

We would like the Department of Education to make the Battle of Cable Street mandatory in Key Stage 3 as we believe it is an incredibly defining moment of British history that shows unity despite differences

The Battle of Cable Street took place in October 4th of 1936 where a crowd of anti-fascists blocked a planned march by Oswald Mosley of the British Union of Fascists (BUF), police failed to clear a path through the barricades and so the commissioner was forced to cancel the BUF's march, ultimately it is remembered as a major victory against the rise of fascism even to this day
