Open petition: Require agencies and employers to pay umbrella and payroll processing fees
Created by James Grant
Closes on
Change the law so workers, agency workers and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) subcontractors cannot be charged fees just to receive their pay. I am charged £25 a week. If an agency, hirer or employer requires a payroll or umbrella company, the business should pay the fee.
I work as a self-employed subcontractor under CIS and am charged £25 every week by a payment company just to receive money I have earned. Others I know are charged £27.45 a week. That can mean over £1,000 a year in compulsory payment-processing fees. Where an agency, hirer or employer requires a payroll, umbrella or payment company, the business should pay that cost, not the worker.
