Exempt all Motability scheme vehicle Advance Payments from Value Added Tax (VAT) and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT), and conduct an urgent review into commercial pricing pressures currently locking disabled people out of suitable vehicles.

Advance Payments for Motability cars have surged across quarterly lists, even on identical specs with VAT already applied. Combining 20% VAT on deposits with 12% Insurance Premium Tax and commercial leasing pressures is pricing disabled people on fixed benefits out of essential, accessible family vehicles. Motability is a vital lifeline for independent living, not a luxury. We call on HM Treasury and the DWP to scrap these taxes and protect affordable mobility.
