Open petition: Add Allstar Cheerleading to the approved activities for GCSE and A-level PE
Created by Amber Fleming
Closes on
Allstar cheer demands elite athleticism, strength, and precision. We believe it is unfairly excluded from PE specs, depriving students of academic credit for their primary sport. We think updating the curriculum to include cheer ensures fairness, promotes inclusivity, and rewards true dedication.
Beyond its physical demand, allstar cheerleading is highly structured, governed by strict international safety regulations and scoring rubrics. We believe the standardized framework makes it just as measurable and rigorously judged as gymnastics or trampolining. By continuing to exclude it, the curriculum ignores one of the fastest, growing youth sports in the UK. Adding cheer provides an accessible path for diverse athletes to excel, driving engagement, ensuring the PE specification reflects modern sport.
