Open petition: Fund early state pension access for working age people with terminal cancer
Created by Hayley Goodall
Closes on
Allow working-aged individuals, diagnosed with incurable stage four terminal cancer, early access to their full State Pension from the point of diagnosis, regardless of their immediate life-expectancy prognosis.
Many people spend their lives contributing to National Insurance, only to lose financial stability when diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. While many private pensions allow early access under terminal rules, the State Pension does not. We propose immediate policy changes to grant early access verified medically. This could provide dignified financial security to patients who have actively worked and supported the system, ensuring a fair return on what is rightfully theirs.
